Meet Faye Caddy, Founder of Bump & Co
Meet Faye Caddy, Founder of Bump & Co
When Faye became a mom in 2022, she found herself navigating the early days of parenthood in Hong Kong without a clear support system. The experience sparked a mission, one that makes sure no new parent feels that kind of isolation. In 2024, she launched BUMP & CO., a platform dedicated to building community, connection, and confidence for expectant and new parents through expert-led antenatal programmes and real-life meetups.
We sat down with Faye to learn more about what inspired her, what new parents really need in Hong Kong, and how she’s helping reshape the early parenting experience, one meetup at a time.
Q: What inspired you to start Bump & Co.?
A: In 2022, I welcomed my first daughter and found myself feeling incredibly lost and lonely in those early newborn days. Having a baby is a completely new world to navigate and finding your feet there can be a little tricky. I wanted to make sure that no other parent had to navigate this alone and so in 2024, I launched BUMP&CO, a program designed to provide guidance, community, and support to new parents.
Q: What are some of the biggest challenges expectant parents face in Hong Kong today?
A: Trying to learn all about giving birth and looking after a baby whilst trying to juggle a full time job as well as all the energy it takes actually being pregnant can be overwhelming. There is a LOT of information out there (often conflicting as well!) and so trying to sift through this and work out what's best can seem like a full time job in itself!
And then secondly, not knowing to turn to for advice or support. Many of us are miles away from our families and so our "village" is already a little depleted. Plus it's all new, so it can be difficult to know which professionals to turn to for help when you need it.
Q: Can you share a memorable / funny / success story from your pre- / post-natal meet up events?
A: When I see people that have connected on the programme out for coffee together, sharing Instagram posts with each other and meeting up with their classmates even a year later makes my heart sing! We have even had some families go on holiday together!!
Q: What advice do you have for new moms or dads navigating pregnancy and early parenthood in Hong Kong?
A: It really is about finding that village, it sounds like a bit of a cliché but it's honestly the best advice I can give. Find friends with babies of a similar age, talk to parents that are a few steps ahead of you for advice, know what professionals you can lean on for support. It's so important.
Q: How do you balance running Bump & Co with your own family life?
A: The "balance" is an impossible target that we never will achieve, unfortunately, and trying to do so adds even more pressure to the mix. I've recently had a second baby and so I need all the help I can get right now! Luckily, I have a great team around me to support. Although as I type this, I have a little newborn scrunched up on me!
Q: Do you have a wishlist on Retykle? What are your favourite baby items and are there any sustainable items that you cannot live without?
A: Yes! I'm a big Malabar Baby fan and always keep an eye out for their stuff on Retykle. They combine luxury with sustainability effortlessly and plus they are a HK brand!
I also am a big fan of buying preloved items - I always recommend this on the programme as babies grow out of things so quickly - somethings are never worn or worn just once, or it may be a case that you or your baby doesn't get on with a particular item, like a carrier, very well, and then you can just resell it again!
