Overproduction is a big issue in the fashion industry. The industry produces more products than the markets demand & often end up disposing of the leftovers.

Most clothing suppliers have a minimum order quantity (MOQ) to secure an order which usually starts at 300-500 pcs. For smaller companies, this is a tough quantity to commit to and there is a risk of not being able to sell all the stock. While bigger companies may take a calculated risk in the stock they commit to but on average, retailers will finish the season with an 85% sell out meaning there is 15% left over stock.
